In the World Games women’s 9-ball pool final, Allison Fisher of Great Britain won gold with a dramatic win over Austria’s Jasmin Ouschan 9-8.
Professional Pool Player, Jasmin Ouschan had actually pulled even after trailing 8-6 and had the break in the final game, but she scratched, giving Fisher momentum.
Fisher later was forced to play a safety shot, but when Ouschan missed the resulting opportunity, the British billiard sensation, “The Duchess of Doom” lowered the boom on the Austrian.
Jasmin Ouschan knocked out of WPBA US Open 9-6 by Ga-Young Kim who went on to claim the title by beating Karen Corr 7-5 in the finals of the 2009 WPBA US Open.
Jasmin Ouschan, who was one of 5 players traveling directly from the World Games in China to Oklahoma for the WPBA US event, was feeling the effects as she went toe to toe with last year’s Regional Tour Champion, Susan Mello. Their match also went hill-hill but Jasmin toughed it out to win. Jasmin faced Kim Shaw in the second round but lost 9-3 as Kim played very well. Jasmin returns on Friday to face the winner of the Heather Lloyd/Kim Jones match.

Jasmin Ouschan of Austria beat Amalia Matas of Spain, 9-4 to progress to the quarter-finals of the 9-ball event of the 8th World Games which is being held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Inside the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, Ind., Jasmin Ouschan survived a hellish draw to win the WPBA’s Great Lakes Classic. She went unbeaten in her six matches, which included victories over Line Kjorsvik, Ga Young Kim, Karen Corr (twice) and Kelly Fisher.
But her biggest challenge came from perhaps the most unlikely source: Pam Cimarelli. A part-time player on the Classic Tour, Cimarelli has shown flashes of real promise, including a run to fifth-place at last year’s WPBA U.S. Open. Still, she was certainly an underdog when she drew Jasmin Ouschan in the single-elimination round of 16.
On the hill with an 8-6 lead, Cimarelli lost a safety battle to allow Ouschan within one game. Getting ball in hand after Ouschan scratched, Cimarelli pocketed the 1 and played position for a 3-9 carom. The potential match-winner didn’t go, and Ouschan ran out to force a case game. After Cimarelli hooked herself on the 7, Ouschan cleared the final three balls for the victory.
From there, Ouschan throttled Ga Young Kim, 9-3, before defeating Corr for the second time in the event, 7-3. The final, where she faced 2008 No. 1 Kelly Fisher, was equally one-sided, with Ouschan dominating the match from the start. Jumping out to a 3-0 lead, Ouschan coasted to a 7-2 win, clinching her third title on the WPBA Classic Tour.
